Belfast Fourth Friday Art Walk
On every Fourth Friday the streets of Belfast are transformed into a whimsical wonderland to celebrate the warm summer evenings. From 5:30 until 8:00 pm you may follow the sound of music, where on any corner a fiddler, crooner or cool jazz soloist will entertain, or across the way a lively dancer will leap and whirl, a persuasive poet will wax eloquent, and perhaps a mime can charm you with silent illusion.
Explore imaginative art galleries that brighten up downtown, featuring both local and nationally recognized artists. Look for the ever-changing and always enticing ‘Farm to Gallery’ food tastings coordinated by Maine Farmland Trust and ‘Walking Art Host’ Robin Jones provides a ‘leisurely-crawl commentary’ (as opposed to a running commentary) on everything you’ll see during Art Walk.

The Belfast Fourth Friday Art Walk committee is focused on developing relationships within Belfast to help connect artists and community members. We work with community leaders, like minded organizations, businesses, and future-focused stakeholders to create the best possible outcomes for the artists and our community. We see the Art Walk as a tremendous opportunity to reach out to locals and tourists alike to promote Belfast’s vibrant, creative energy for the benefit of all.
We’re pleased to welcome back the FARM TO GALLERY FOOD TASTINGS in 2017!
To celebrate the synergy of local foods and art so typical of Waldo County, Maine Farmland Trust will coordinate ‘Farm to Gallery’ food tastings during the June, July, and August Art Walks. Participating galleries will offer a variety of local foods — fresh vegetables, cheeses, meats, baked goods and even chocolate — harvested or produced by farmers and makers who call Waldo County home. The tastings are free to attendees and open to all! Thank you to our partners at Bangor Savings Bank for making this possible.
The Belfast Fourth Friday Art Walk series is made possible in part through the generous support of our members, Coyote Moon, Front Street Shipyard, and Bangor Savings Bank.
We hope to see you in 2017!
Over the last decade the Belfast Fourth Friday Art Walk has established itself as a summer staple for residents and tourists alike. Belfast is known as an ‘arts destination’ and thousands of visitors come to Belfast every year to experience our mid-coast way of life. Statistics show that cultural tourists spend more than other tourists on lodging, shopping and dining. By showcasing local talent, creativity, and community, the Art Walk series brings both energy and entrepreneurial opportunity to artists and businesses throughout the summer months.
During the 2016 Art Walk season, participants were invited to explore the imaginative art galleries that brighten up downtown Belfast. These galleries feature local and nationally recognized artists with revolving shows throughout the season. The Art Walk presents a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their work and to engage a diverse crowd of passionate art enthusiasts and curious travelers in intimate conversation.
Thanks to generous funding from the City of Belfast, Bangor Savings Bank, and Delvino’s Restaurant, we were also able to launch several new initiatives that support the evening’s creative energy and highlight Waldo County’s unique creative economy. These include:
FARM TO GALLERY FOOD TASTINGS, POP UP ART TENTS, TOURS, #ARTWALKWITHME, ARTIST PERFORMANCES
