The 2015 Seal Bay Festival is based on the theme Seeing Sound, with concerts taking place in art galleries and museums, and each concert being preceded by a talk in the space by art historian Lauren Lessing. This year inaugurates the Seal Bay Festival Composer Institute, where a group of college and conservatory level composers will participate in a series of master classes with the festival’s four resident composers, John Corigliano, Daniel Strong Godfrey, Laura Kaminsky, and Joan Tower. The student composers will have their works read and recorded by the Cassatt String Quartet; these works will be performed by the quartet at a public concert in New York City during the 2015-2016 season.
