The Maine Development Foundation has extended the application deadline for their scholarship program for adult students, the Next Step Maine Scholarship Fund. They are now be accepting applications until 4 pm on May 5. (Notifications will still be made in May, and awards will be presented in June as planned.)
There are up to 20 available scholarships, with awards of $1,000 to $2,500. As you know, MDF strongly believes in the importance of building the skills of our incumbent workforce. We need to do all that we can to encourage working adults to ‘take their next step,’ but also provide real support to help them succeed.
WHO CAN RECEIVE A SCHOLARSHIP?
These scholarships are designed for employees who are engaged in taking the next step in their education, who are pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree or industry certification, and who are considered promising contributors to the companies or organizations for whom they work.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
CHECK TO SEE IF YOU ARE AN MEI (Maine Employers’ Initiative) COMMITTED EMPLOYER. You are receiving this notice as a friend of the Maine Development Foundation, but you must be an MEI committed employer to nominate an employee.
- If you are not sure whether you’re a member, check the list here: CURRENT MEI EMPLOYERS
- ITS FREE TO JOIN: Complete the survey and commitment letter here: SIGN UP FOR MEI
THEN NOMINATE YOUR EMPLOYEE USING THE ONLINE FORM. Scholarship applications must be submitted by employers, who can ‘nominate’ eligible employees. We also require a short personal statement from the employee. Both forms must be submitted online this year. Guidelines and forms are all here: SCHOLARSHIP FORMS & GUIDELINES
