Hello Dancers!   Come take a “Scandi music for dancing” workshop in Belfast… Scandi fiddlers Lydia and Andrea are willing to come up and teach one if we can get enough people.

I took a workshop with them last month and it was so awesome I volunteered to help set one up in Belfast. Would you respond to our mini-survey and help choose a date to bring this program to midcoast Maine!?

 Thanks!
Bennett

To give you a better idea of the workshop read this letter from the Instructors:

lydia and Andrea Scandinavian fiddlle duoWe’ve been back from Sweden for over a year already, but our brains and notebooks are still brimming with all the amazing musical inspiration we gathered at school and how best to share more of it with all y’all.

We are excited to announce that we have developed TRÄD WEEKEND, an intensive workshop for dance musicians in Scandinavian fiddle traditions, largely though not exclusively slanted toward fiddle and nyckelharpa. (We ask that if your instrument is something other than a fiddle or nyckelharpa, you pretend during our class sessions that you are an honorary fiddle.) We are thrilled that our pilot run of this program, in Montague MA in November 2014, was a triumphant success, and we are eager to share the experience with friends farther afield.

We begin with a Friday evening gathering and wrap up sometime Sunday afternoon. Attendance will stay pretty compact, capped at 20 people, in order to foster the experience of a small class working together; if there is sufficient interest, we will schedule a second weekend rather than expand our capacity. We’re aiming to keep overhead low, hooking our out-of-town participants up with local hosts as needed. Bennett Konesni has kindly volunteered to serve as our local coordinator/facilitator, so you know it’ll be done right!

Can you spare us a moment to answer a couple of quick questions about your interest?  quickie survey:  http://lydia.pw/survey10dec

Thanks for your help!
Best,
lydia & Andrea
