Art in Belfast City Hall (and beyond) Exhibits: Open Call for Artists
Theme for 2019-20: Interdependence, Connection & Celebration
The Belfast Creative Coalition issues an Open Call for visual artists to display work in Belfast City Hall (and beyond) starting September 2019.
This non-juried exhibit will feature an artist from Waldo County every three months and seeks to include two artists residing in the City of Belfast and two artists from surrounding towns in Waldo County, annually. The exhibit is an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work on the walls of Belfast City Hall for thousands of people to view and enjoy every year.
Timeline: Exhibit dates and themes for 2019-20 Art in the City are as follows:
September 5 – November 5
November 10 – January 10
January 15 – April 15
April 20 – June 20
Entry to Art in the City is free. Artists interested in participating should contact the Belfast Creative Coalition at 207-218-1144 or stop by the Coalition office at 17 Court Street by August 25, 2019 to be considered. 10-20 pieces will be accepted depending on size.
Cover letter describing your work
Ten to twenty (10-20) digital image on CD/DVD. Images should be presented in JPEG format with image size set to 300 dpi resolution, 4″ x 6″ image size, approximately and should indicate size.
Artist Resume including biography, educational background, and exhibition record.
All art must be framed and ready for hanging
Artists must participate in the installation
Entries Due: Entries will be accepted until August 10, 2019.
Selection Process: A committee including representatives from the Belfast Creative Coalition and the City of Belfast, will review submission requests. Artists not immediately selected will be placed on a waitlist for future shows.
Notification to the artist: artists will be notified 10 days before exhibit dates.
Accepted Artwork: set up requirements and details for delivering artwork to City Hall will be provided to artists at least 5 days ahead of the show. All artwork is displayed on walls (no easels).
Pickup Artwork: Art must be removed on the last day of the exhibit.
Publicity: Art in City Hall will be publicized in local newspapers, on social media, on the Belfast Creative Coalition Website, The City of Belfast, Belfast Chamber of Commerce and in a variety of local organization newsletters.
