Four local artists of note will display their work throughout 2020, each for three months.
The first exhibition of the year will feature the art of Penny Linn and will run until March 15th.
Linn’s body of displayed work is entitled “Quiet Landscapes.” Linn says, “I am generally drawn toward simple compositions that embrace the minimal, while transforming the ordinary into an image apart from the obvious. In a sense, I extract photographs from the expansive landscapes we encounter in our daily travels. These are interpretations of landscapes beyond a common image, to view in a new way.”
Linn has been in the area since 1973 after graduating from Colby College. She has two grown sons and has lived in Belfast with her husband, Jon Linn, since 1998. She studied photography at Maine Media and also with highly acclaimed Belfast artist Neal Parent.
Linn has also generously donated a new picture hanging system to the creative coalition with the understanding that it will be used for installations at City Hall for the display of Art in the City exhibits.
Linn can be contacted at either firstname.lastname@example.org or at pennylinnphotography.com.
The second featured artist of 2020 will be local painter Gail Wartell.
Visual artists are invited to submit their work for consideration of Art in the City to the Belfast Creative Coalition, the curator of these shows.
