Belfast Creative Coalition (BCC) has many things to be thankful for this holiday season.
The BCC would like to thank the City of Belfast for its continued support of the Belfast Creative Coalition and the arts and culture sector of our community. The City of Belfast is thriving with arts and cultural activities and many of the programs have generous support from the City through funding and logistics. With support of the City and cultural grants (and soon to be announced membership) the Belfast Creative Coalition markets and coordinates arts and cultural events for Belfast to attract people and businesses to our area. Arts and culture are integral in supporting our local economy. For every dollar spent on arts and culture in our community, an additional $2 is spent at local businesses, restaurants and lodging.
To continue to attract visitors, BCC created a cultural map of the Belfast area called Cultivate! Belfast Area Farm and Arts Trail. Over Columbus Day weekend, BCC held a special tour of the trail. People visited open studios, galleries, cultural organizations, working farms and farm stands in Belfast and throughout Waldo County. Special thanks to the Maine Farmland Trust for their vital help and support and many thanks to all participants and supporters. The tour was a fantastic success with hundreds of visitors, many coming from several states away.
Check out the blog post by Alison Manning from Groton, MA, describing the great experience she had with her daughter touring Belfast and a few of the open Studios and Farms over the weekend.
As part of the Belfast Co-op Round Up Program, BCC received a check for $427. Thank you to everyone that ‘rounded up’ in support of the Belfast Creative Coalition and thank you to the Belfast Co-op for supporting local non-profits with this creative program!
BCC is also thankful for volunteers! Special thanks this month to Elaine Bielenberg. Elaine volunteers for many organizations in Belfast and she received the Volunteer of the Year award at the Belfast Chamber Awards Dinner. Congratulations Elaine!
We hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving. And thank you all for your continued support in cultivating the arts and culture of our midcoast community!
