Join us on Sunday, April 14th at 4- 6 pm award-winning film Beautiful Boy at the Colonial Theatre. This showing will kick off the outreach and fundraising for the RAW 4 CHANGE | ART IN ACTION PROJECT produced by Rural Art Works (RAW) in partnership with the Belfast Creative Coalition and happening in Belfast on November 1 & 2.

This film, starring Timothée Chalamet and Steve Carell, is a true story that is being played out around our country and is based on the best-selling pair of memoirs from father and son David and Nic Sheff, Beautiful Boy chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years. Tickets are $15. Rated R.

Beautiful Boy is a film that resonates for a country that is gripped by addiction. The focus of the November RAW event is the power of the arts to impact addiction and criminal justice reform in response to the crisis of opiate addiction in Waldo County.

RAW 4 CHANGE | ART IN ACTION PROJECT will take place Friday and Saturday, November 1 & 2, 2019 at the United Farmer’s Market Event and Theatre Space at 19 Miller Street, Belfast and will include artist-activist from all over the county summoning the power of art as a primary tool to engage fresh solutions to heal individuals and communities.

This event will feature Vijay Gupta, a Juilliard-trained violinist who’s been using music as a way to connect with L.A.’s homeless and incarcerated and promote healing. A movement that began with one Skid Row occupant has now evolved into a group of 80 musicians who perform in shelters, jails and treatment facilities. In Vijay received a MacArthur “Genius” Grant.
