The editorial board of the Maine Arts Journal; UMVA Quarterly, invites UMVA members to submit up to 4 images for its upcoming MAJ Winter Issue: Lines of Thought. An exhibition on the theme, curated by Deborah Whitney, is also underway and is open to submissions from UMVA members and other Maine artists.
Drawing has a history of being a way of thinking on paper. Lines of Thought, the upcoming theme for the MAJ Winter 2017 issue asks:
Where does drawing fit in with your thought process?
What role does drawing play in your art?
For more information on the theme see Submission Guidelines. Word limit is 150 words. Please submit images as jpegs: high-resolution images, 150-300 dpi; the format should be at least 1000 pixels on the shortest side. Please label work and supply us with a numbered image list in a Word document which includes artist, title, year, medium, dimension, and if required, the photo credit. Put “Lines of Thought” in the subject line and submit to firstname.lastname@example.org before December 1st deadline. MAJ will limit the “Members Submit” section to UMVA members who have not been published in the past year. In addition to the “Member’s Submit” feature in the MAJ that is designed to give visibility to UMVA members as they respond to our theme, there will be an exhibit, Lines of Thought, at the UMVA / CTN Gallery , 516 Congress St, Portland. This exhibit will be curated by Deborah Whitney, and will open in January. If you want your work to be considered for the exhibit, please send your images to email@example.com. You do not have to be a UMVA member to submit your work to Deborah, but you do have to be a member to submit your work to the Maine Arts Journal: UMVA Quarterly.
