Waldo County Open Space Festival Call to ArtistsWaldo County Open Space Festival, in its second year, emphasizes the value of locally-owned small businesses to maintaining open space, wilderness and farmland because they eliminate the need for more commercial development and urban sprawl.
This year they have received a grant that enables them to commission 2 artists to create small facades of Main Street, Waldo County: 4’ x 4’ (minimum) facades that represent kinds of businesses in Waldo County.

General categories, not limited to these (no commercial names may be used):
Hardware & Lumber
Books Apparel
Shoes Museum
Transportation Feed & Grain
Garden Supplies Handcrafts
Pottery Grocer
Gallery Animal Care

You choose a category or two, you sketch, our jury chooses 2 renderings. An artist may do more than one, and collaborations are acceptable.

Deadline for submission of sketches is February 1, 2014.
Notification of selected artwork by February 15, 2015.

Sketches should be approx to scale, color or b&w w/colors indicated.
Finished panels to be submitted, delivered, May 1, 2015.

$500 stipend available for each commissioned panel completed to specs.

Panels will be displayed at Waldo County Open Space Festival, Thorndike,
Sunday, June 14, 2015; also to be used at Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad Christmas village at City Point, December, 2015.
