The 5th annual Belfast Ukulele Festival will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Steamboat Landing Park and Boathouse in Belfast. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m and is sponsored by Midcoast Ukesand Belfast Parks and Recreation. Admission is $5 for adults, under 12 free. The headliner this year is Gerald Ross, one of the finest instrumentalists on the scene today. His music expresses a sense of rhythm and melody that is rare in contemporary music. Gerald Ross says “ the ukulele is not a toy ”. Check him out at geraldross.com.
The performance schedule runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., alternating between 2 stages; the Main Stage and the Gazebo Stage. 13 local ukulele groups will strum their stuff, warming up for Gerald Ross at 2:30 and finishing up with the host group Midcoast Ukes at 3:45.
Concurrently with the performances 4 workshops will be held in the Boathouse:

● 11:00-12:00 Frets Halligan: Introduction to the Ukulele *FREE* Limited lender ukes
● 11:45-12:45 Jeffrey Weinberger: Finding the Right Strum for the Song, $15
● 1:00-2:00 Gerald Ross: Take It!, $15
Raffle items include ukuleles, ukulele lessons, a signed copy of the Daily Ukulele and gift certificates from local businesses.
On Friday, June 1, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., Midcoast Ukes will host a meet and greet with Gerald Ross, a potluck & soft drinks/BYOB and uke jam at festival partners Searsport Shores Oceanfront Camping who are offering reduced rates to ukuleleists for camping and lodging.

Saturday’s main event admission is only $5, 12 and under free. Workshops are $15 except for The Intro workshop which is free. Class size limited, register at midcoastukes.org to guarantee a seat.
