Not Far From Home: From the Sketchbooks of Rita Swidrowski

August 7 @ 8:00 am - September 4 @ 5:00 pm

Rita Swidrowski presents her second show of sketchbook pages at Belfast Free
Library’s Kramer Gallery from August 7 to September 4, 2018.
Through her drawn and written sketchbook journals, Rita enjoys deepening her
visual and personal experiences, and recording the things she learns and discovers
each day. Moments in time get transformed into personal stories and memories get
preserved.
Sketches in “Not Far From Home" include locations from Acadia National Park, to
Belfast and Midcoast Maine, Rita’s current home, to South Portland, her home for
many years.
Rita is a retired art teacher and enjoys encouraging others to journal and sketch. As
a result of Rita’s first show at the Belfast Free Library a Sketchers Group began
meeting monthly at the Library. The format was recently expanded to include other
art subjects and the meetings are now facilitated by various participants. It is now
called The Belfast Free Art Group. Some of the ongoing participants organize
separate weekly sketch group trips to various sites such as gardens, lakes,
mountains, farms, cafés, and our coastline.
The next Library Art Group meeting will be on August 14 from 2-4. Come join us,
it is free and open to the public!
