“The Very Great Grandson of Sherlock Holmes” at The Playhouse
June 9 @ 3:00 pm
BELFAST – Enjoy the miracle of heredity! The great grandson of the greatest detective in the world tries to solve the mystery in “The Very Great Grandson of Sherlock Holmes” by Bill Majeski presented by The Playhouse Teen Theater on Friday and Saturday June 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday Matinees June 9 and 16 at 3:00.
The (very) great grandson of the master sleuth is trying to make it as a private eye, his mind filled with beautiful girls in dire straights (Isabelle Holt) who will be saved by his massive intellect. Unfortunately, Sherwood Holmes (Oliver Howard) is not quite up to his illustrious ancestor Sherlock, a fact pointed out to him by the descendant of Doctor Watson (Julian Kelly). Thrust into a marvelous and complex murder mystery of eccentric Harris Creastley (Noah Gilchrist), young Sherwood tries desperately to rise to the occasion, while interviewing the sister (Luna Carlson) and aunt (Esmé Deschamps) of the deceased, as well as the staff at the mansion: Butler (Jack Reader), Maids (Emma Waldron and Mirabelle Kutsy-Durbin), Cook (Ada Curry) and Scullery Maid (Ada Potter).
His brilliant solution is apparently no more than a humorous disaster. However, this great grandson still retains a bit of the classic brilliance attached to his name and ultimately nails the culprit. Directed by Mary Weaver. The Playhouse, 107 Church Street, is an intimate theater with limited seating; call 338-5777 for reservations. Tickets are $5. Pay at the door.
