Twelve special art classes and workshops for kids and adults begin during the month of June at Waterfall Arts in Belfast. There is space in every class for sign ups and for those that qualify, partial scholarships for youth classes are available. This month, for adults and older teens, there’s Photoshop for Artists led by Kris Engman and Susan Guthrie, Throwing Clay on the Wheel with Felicia Cinquegrana, Plein Air Painting and Nature Drawing with Kris Engman, and True Stories, a creative writing workshop with Stephanie Wade.

While all the classes and workshops are unique and inspiring, Waterfall Arts is offering a most unusual and exciting class this June:  Large Woodcut Printmaking with Amy Guadagnoli (June 27 to July1). This type of woodblock printing is known for its bold, graphic look, yielding images unlike other media. Over the five-day workshop, the group will learn to plan, carve, and print a large scale multicolor woodblock print with a master printer. In addition to instruction, there will be open studio time every day.
For kids, June brings Young Artists’ Studio, a relaxed art club for ages 9 and up, every Wednesday afternoon. For the very young, age 2 to 5, there’s emerging artists led by Felicia Cinquegrana on Wednesday mornings. Jackie Ottino Graf, a master fiber artist, leads a two day workshop teaching the basics of wool – washing, dyeing and spinning for ages 6 to 15. And Becky Brimley leads kids, parents and whole families in a fun Paint Your Own Pottery workshop on Saturday June 25.

All classes have minimum and maximum enrollment thresholds, so early registration will improve the chances of the class running and your slot in it. Complete information on classes, workshops, scholarships, instructors and online registration can be found at waterfallarts.org.
