Launchpad Announces New Artist Opportunity, the ‘2880 Film Shootout Competition’

The competition was previously part of the Bangor Film Festival held in 2008 and 2009. The top films from the Filmmakers Wanted! Launchpad is bringing back the 2880 Film Shootout Competition, which challenges teams of filmmakers (or crazy lone wolf filmmakers) to write, shoot and edit their films in only 2,880 minutes (48-hours).hootout will be screened in competition in both Portland and Bangor in late November, with prizes awarded in several categories including best overall film, best actor & actress, as well as best direction and cinematography.

Each team is given the same prompt, which is the title of the film. Filmmakers are encouraged to adapt the film title in any way they wish, in any genre. The prompt (film title) will be chosen by the competition organizers from submissions to our facebook page, and announced at the start of the competition production weekend – Friday, October 23rd – Sunday, October 25th.
The competition is open to filmmakers statewide (and anywhere in the world) who wish to submit an entry.

Want to participate but don’t have a team? You can contact us at film@wearelaunchpad.org or attend one of the two informational meetings being held directly before the production weekend, on Friday, October 23rd. Screenings will take place in both Bangor and Portland on the weekend of November 20th – 22nd. Registration for the competition is just $20.
