Songwriter and community organizer Sara Trunzo writes the quirks, grit, and wisdom of the rural north in a fresh and unromantic voice. She pulls from a decade of running a food bank farm where she helped get local produce into the kitchens of Waldo County neighbors facing barriers to food access.
Her time in Maine farm fields, fishing boats, community meetings, and food pantry warehouses of Maine add wrinkles to her characters and place to their places.
Trunzo draws influence from master songwriters Darrell Scott and Mary Gauthier, both of whom appear on her upcoming record. She strives to cultivate songs that instigate healing, truth-telling, and transformation. Trunzo has received 1st and 2nd place honors from the Maine Songwriters’ Association in 2018 and 2017, respectively.
Her debut EP ‘thanks birdie’ was released in 2017; she toured nationally in 2018; her first full-length album ‘Dirigo Attitude’ will arrive May 3, 2019. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee and Unity, Maine and on the road.
