Connecting Waldo County communities through trails to celebrate our heritage of natural and working landscapes.
These organizations have come together to link 40-plus miles of trails in order to create a continuous trail from Unity to Frye Mountain. Existing trails traverse lands owned by the organizations and by private landowners. In its first year (2012), this three-year project connected trails in downtown Unity, Maine, and at Unity College to MOFGA. In its second year, Sheepscot Wellspring Land Alliance trails will be connected to Mt. View High School trails; and in the third year, trails from Mt. View will connect to MOFGA. The trails will be for hiking primarily.
Trails create many opportunities for:
- Community Wellness
- Low-Impact Transportation
- Environmental Education
- Nature Observation
- Developing a Sense of Place
- Economic Enrichment
