Midcoast Actors’ Studio is happy to announce that it has received a $4000 grant from the Maine Arts Expansion Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to help with its 2018 season! In particular, this grant will help bring a summer musical theater camp to local children in the greater midcoast Belfast region, as well as live programming to Bayside.
“MAS is so grateful to have received this grant,” said Jason Bannister, MAS Founding Artistic Director. “Our summer youth musical theater camps have become quite popular in the area, and this grant will help ensure we can continue to offer this to our community.”
Midcoast Actors’ Studio was founded in 2012 with a mission to foster an environment for artists to imagine and grow freely, create quality intimate theatre, and inspire our community. It was voted best theater in Waldo County for 2017 and recently performed two wonderful productions of Frankenstein and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at the recently reopened Crosby Center in downtown Belfast.
MAS will present its full 2018 season at the Crosby, including Peter and the Starcatcher May 11-20, Cabaret August 3-12, The Crucible October 26-November 4, and The Snow Queen December 13-16. This last production will also be available for school tours and workshops in December. The MAS Summer Youth Musical Theater Junior Camp (ages 7-13) will run June 25-29 with Seussical: KIDS, while the senior camp runs July 2-14 with Sweeney Todd: SCHOOL EDITION.
With offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people. To learn more about the foundation, visit www.mainecf.org.
