Lindsey Bachelder, known professionally as Lindsey Ray and Rayelle, graduated Belfast Area High School with the Class of 2001 and then spent the last eighteen years pursuing her singing and songwriter career in Los Angeles and Nashville with growing success, including having her catchy music uses in TV shows and commercials and even the closing song by Mariah Carey, for the movie Almost Home.
But recently, after watching her music featured in a flashy Samsung Commercial that premiered during the 2019 Oscar Show, she really felt all her hard work of almost two decades was paying off.
She took to social media to share her gratitude and excitement with everyone; family, friends, and fans with a powerful message for all dreamers: Do it anyway.
“One of the most important things to remember as an artist is that not everyone is going to love or ‘get’ what you do. Do it anyway. I used to try to fit into molds that I thought would make me feel worthy and accepted in the music industry and it always left me feeling lost, empty and discouraged.
In the last few years, I decided to create solely from a place of joy and exploration. I felt like a kid with finger paints and an endless blank canvas. It’s been FUN and EXHILARATING and I’ve never felt more FREE from the bounds of expectation.
Free to show sides of myself that I had no way of knowing whether the outside world would see value in. And it didn’t matter because I wasn’t doing it for them, I was doing it for me.
The songs I wrote from that place are now being heard all over the world and in the last week, since the Samsung ad started airing, I’ve received more love from strangers and industry peers all over the world than ever before.
It’s a beautiful full circle moment and it serves as validation for me and anyone reading this that doing your own thing in your own unique way is ALWAYS the answer. Nobody can do what you do the way you do it and THAT is where your power lies. Be unapologetically YOU and watch the magic unfold. It’s brilliant.”
Waldo County folks who know and love Lindsey, with her sweet and fun-loving style, are happy for her, and at the Belfast Creative Coalition, we have started a new series called Waldo County Dreamers and asked Lindsey to be our first dreamer.
BCC will feature those from Waldo County who have gone into the world to make their mark and those who have come to Waldo County and filled their creative dreams.
People can follow Lindsay Ray in three different places, exploring her many musical inventions, styles, and projects.
