Why Not Now? Exploring a Life of Full-Time Travel

In September of 2013, photographer Jennifer Smith-Mayo and writer Matthew P. Mayo sold their home in Northport, Maine, sold 95% of their belongings, bought an RV, and took to the road. In the past year they’ve traveled the USA, working and exploring.

The Mayos will give a presentation, with photos and videos from their travels, on Tuesday, October 21, 6:30 p.m. at Belfast Free Library, about their lives as full-time rovers. They will cover a number of topics they have been asked while travelling around the United States including: “Life on the Road and What Led Them to it”; “Who They Are, What They do”, and “The Challenges of Balancing Work with Travel”; “Their RV (It’s a Treehouse on Wheels!)”; “How to Live Simply with Less Stuff”; “The People They Meet and the Adventures They Have” … and more!

Jennifer Smith-Mayo is an award-winning photographer whose credits include GQ, The New York Times, National Geographic, Vice, Down East Magazine, as well as numerous books, calendars, etc.

Matthew P. Mayo is an award-winning author of more than two dozen books, both nonfiction and novels, as well as dozens of short stories, articles, essays, and poems. The Mayos also run Gritty Press, a small publishing enterprise with big ideas.
